1. Acts 9:8 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Why was Saul struck blind?

Acts 9:8 (ESV)

8 Saul rose from the ground, and although his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. So they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.

It is an instinctive response to close your eyes when there is a bright light.1 The blindness of Saul was most likely a form of judgment (see Acts 13:11; Deuteronomy 28:28–29).2
