What do the terms “distress and anguish” echo?

Zephaniah 1:15 (ESV)

15 A day of wrath is that day, a day of distress and anguish, a day of ruin and devastation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

The terms “distress and anguish” echo curses promised to Israel (Deuteronomy 28:53, Deuteronomy 28:55, Deuteronomy 28:57). But now Zephaniah applies these terms to the whole world.
