What does it mean for something to be holy?

Leviticus 2:3 (ESV)

3 But the rest of the grain offering shall be for Aaron and his sons; it is a most holy part of the LORD’s food offerings.

The word “holy” (qōḏěš) means to set apart. In this instance the term indicates that this sacrifice was set apart from common or normal use.
