What are saints?

Colossians 1:2 (ESV)

2 To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae: Grace to you and peace from God our Father.

This word conveys being holy, set apart for God. They were not holy because they had the ability to sin or to be good or bad. They are holy in a sense that they were set apart from all others as people belonging to God.
