The Bible tells us about the good things, but also the bad things that God’s children have done. Can such people be a stimulating example for us? David is the king of Israel. He is the hero of God. Why is his affair with Bathsheba so extensively reported (2 Samuel 11:1 – 12:31), including the gruesome murder of Uriah, her husband? It is because the gospel is the message of salvation through God’s undeserved grace. Christ’s salvation is not for strong, able, and talented people, but for weak people who do not deserve God’s grace. The greatest recipients of grace are the most repentant people.
1 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.
