What is the meaning of God’s “mercies”?

Lamentations 3:22 (ESV)

22 The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;

Another word the writer claims in his expression of faith regarding God is his mercies. The Hebrew word raḥamim is derived from a word related to the womb, which describes the tender caring love of a mother (see also Psalm 103:15; Isaiah 49:15).1 This is the word’s only occurrence in Lamentations. It always appears in the plural form, depicting the abounding nature of God’s care.2
