Lamentations 2:14 (ESV)

14 Your prophets have seen for you false and deceptive visions; they have not exposed your iniquity to restore your fortunes, but have seen for you oracles that are false and misleading.

Oracles (also translated as visions) are prophetic words, usually doom-laden pronouncements against foreign nations (see also Isaiah 13:1; Nahum 1:1). In this context, the prophets had pronounced that the prosperity of Jerusalem is secure, and that divine doom would fall upon her oppressors (see Jeremiah 28:2–4). In reality, the true oracles from God, as faithfully conveyed by his prophets, warned about the terrible impending judgement over Jerusalem.1
