What does 1 Samuel 23 reveal about what God does in my place and on my behalf (the work of the Son)?
Jesus Christ is the King who always submitted to the Lord’s guidance. Throughout his life, he meditated on Scripture and allowed God’s Word to influence his thoughts and actions. Thereby he lived the perfect life of obedience. Despite his love and concern for God’s people, he was betrayed by his friends and family. A betrayal that resulted in his death where he died to pay for the very sins of those who betrayed him. As such, he lived the perfect life in my place and died the death that I deserve for my failure to submit to God and love him with all my being.
1 Now they told David, “Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and are robbing the threshing floors.”
