What is the object of justifying faith?

Romans 4:25 (ESV)

25 who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

The person of Jesus Christ is the object of justifying faith. He is the ultimate sacrifice for our sins, and by grace, people who would otherwise stand guilty before God and be under his wrath are now justified through faith in his sacrificial blood. In Romans 4:25 the apostle Paul briefly reiterates the truth he had already proclaimed in Romans 3:21–26 so as to transition into what follows in the next chapter, Romans 5:1–21, by once again highlighting that it is Jesus who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.1
