Leviticus 27:16 introduces an instance where an Israelite dedicates part of his tribal inheritance of land to the Lord. The word dedicates
(qdš) is in the Hiphil form. This means that the worshipper purposefully and wilfully vowed the land to the sanctuary.
16 “If a man dedicates to the LORD part of the land that is his possession, then the valuation shall be in proportion to its seed. A homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.
