What kind of oil was used for the lamp stand?

Leviticus 24:2 (ESV)

2 “Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil from beaten olives for the lamp, that a light may be kept burning regularly.

The people of Israel were required to provide pure oil pressed from olives. The word pure (zǎḵ) refers to something clear or pure. In this instance, it indicates that only the purest oils could be used in the temple.
