What is meant by the word “radiance”?

Revelation 21:11 (ESV)

11 having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.

The term John uses comes from the very common word for “light,” underscoring specifically its abundance, its brightness. As the bride wears God’s own glory, she radiates, shines, gives off (his) light (Philippians 2:15).
