After the initial washing of the garment, three possible outcomes are provided for in light of the priest's inspection. Firstly, if the spot has faded (Leviticus 13:56), then the area of the spot is to be ripped out and replaced by clean material. It can then be used in the normal way. Secondly, if the infection breaks out again on the garment (Leviticus 13:57), then the entire item is to be burned. It cannot be used again. Thirdly, if the spot has disappeared (Leviticus 13:58), then the article is to be washed a second time. Then it is clean.
